How to make sure you don't let fear get in the way of your dreams. This time I will discuss the book The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks. This book is about how you can change your perspective on life and not let fear take over you.

Basically everyone has a dream, but not everyone dares to live life according to his dream. Our lives are defined by our behavior, the challenges we take, and the reasons we make.

Unfortunately, we all have dreams that never come true for made-up reasons over and over again. We are driven and constrained by the fear of the unknown and the fear of change.

In fact, to live a truly extraordinary life, you need to understand that no one ever promises or tells you that life will be easy.

The beauty of life will be seen when you work hard to achieve what you want and the pleasure after getting it with hard work.

How to make sure you don't let fear get in the way of your dreams, which you cant try

I've summarized them into three highlights from The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks:

First, Fear is the best version

Life can be difficult, and often we get stuck in trouble. However, when you ask yourself are you ready to live happily? and you imagine the whole day without complaining about anything, maybe your outlook on life needs to be improved.

Basically, everyone has their own problem with happiness, and interestingly, we often refuse to be happy. If we try to find out the reason, it turns out that there is fear there.

You may be afraid to reach your full potential because if you do, there will be no excuse if your dreams don't come true. You may have dreams that you keep to yourself because they seem unrealistic or out of reach.

In many cases, we are the ones holding back from achieving what we want in life. We turn out to have imaginary limits on how to live a happy life.

When we approach or barely cross these boundaries, we tend to self-sabotage. It is also related to the fear of realizing dreams and reaching their full potential.

Hendricks calls this the upper bounds mindset. Each of us seems to have an inner thermostat setting that determines how much love, success, and creativity we allow to enjoy. This is what then limits our full potential. Why this happened?

According to Hendricks, it is made of four hidden barriers based on fear. While it may seem true, it is not real. Subconsciously believing it holds our potential.

First, Feeling Fundamentally Handicapped. This is the kind of thinking where you feel that you cannot develop to your full potential, because there is basically something wrong with you.

Second, Disloyalty and Abandonment. This is the thought that you cannot achieve greater success, because as a result you will end up alone, disloyal to what you believed in at the start, and leaving people from the past.

Third, believe that the more success carries a greater burden. This is the thought that you cannot develop your personal potential, because you feel that you will become a greater burden than you are now.

Fifth, The Crime of Outshining. This is the thought that if I develop my full potential, then I will make other people look bad.

Second, Looking for your genius zone

Have you ever worked so focused that you lost track of time? You enjoy the job so much that you don't realize you've spent hours working on it.

To change lives, we must find our own genius zone. There are four zones you should be aware of:

First, the Disability Zone. This zone consists of all the activities that you are not in control of. If so, delegate this work to someone else or find creative ways to avoid it.

Second, the Competency Zone. This zone consists of all the activities that you are good at, but that other people can do as well. Most people stop here and don't try to explore themselves anymore.

Third, the Zone of Excellence. This zone consists of all the activities that you can do very well. You may be an expert in your field, but this doesn't bring you joy in doing so.

On the one hand being an expert is a good thing, but on the other hand, it is a trap that stops you from developing your unique potential to the fullest.

Fourth, the Genius Zone. This zone consists of all the activities that bring you happiness and your unique potential. When you do this, it will not only bring you success but also inner happiness.

The question now is like this, how to get into the genius zone?

Most people probably don't know what their genius zone is. There are several questions that can help you find your genius zone.

First, what activities do I like to do? What activities or work can I do for hours without getting bored?

Second, what kind of work do I do but don't like working?

Third, what kind of work gives me satisfaction in doing it? This question will help you to know what your genius zone is.

Indeed, this takes time for self-exploration and not everyone can have the opportunity to live the genius zone in his life. However, if you are faithful in finding what your genius zone is, then there will come a time when you will finally find what you are looking for.

Third, Tips to live a full life

Many people feel like they don't have the time, but really? Everyone has the same 24 hours, but the way they live it is of course very different.

If you want to be successful, then you have to start by being responsible for the time you have. Don't worry about the things you can't control and focus on what you can do.

However, sometimes, we also often do not carry out the responsibilities that we should do. Over time this will lead to high stress if we do not do this.

Apart from focusing on the things we can control, another tip for managing time is to stop complaining. You need to know, complaining is an act that wastes time and is very dangerous if done excessively.

There is one interesting exercise. Try to record your conversations with other people around for a week. Then, notice how often other people or even yourself complain about things you can't control.

When you or a coworker complain, of course you need someone to listen. However, apart from that, there is a question that must be answered, is this within my control or not? If so, what can I do? If not, why do I always complain?

This question will be a self-reflection about what we will do in the future. Fear stops you from reaching your full potential. Don't let yourself sabotage your future.

That's my discussion of How to make sure you don't let fear get in the way of your dreams, which you can try.
